Beloved children:
On the breath, Life rides into your body as a triumphant king rides in his chariot through the streets of the city to the palace, and every cell and atom of your being thrills to its coming just as the multitude cheers the triumphant monarch.
The presence of life in the human breast should be a constant recognition by the individual of the Godhead and that there is yet opportunity for the personal identity to justify its presence in the universe. When you breathe in the breath of life, breathe it deeply, and when you send it forth, send it forth charged with the qualities of God in a positive manner; thus your form will become an expression of the purpose for which all men were created - an outpicturing of what is so lightly termed "The Divine Plan Fulfilled".
Breath and life are not synonymous any more than the electric light wire is one with the electrical current that flows through it. Breath is the conductor of the life principle and without a conductor life could not endure in the world of physical manifestation any more than you could enjoy the convenience of electric light in a house without the wiring. That is why no man ever lived without breath and why the outer man feels that when breath ceases life ceases. He feels that breath and life are one.
If you are contacting someone by telephone and the wire is out, the conversation (which represents life) ceases to flow over the circuit, although you still have the essence of the conversation alive in your mind, but unable to reach its destination. Breath is the wiring system by which the God life of the universe is invested in mankind. When a child draws in its first breath, an invisible tube or conductor is connected with the physical form and then begins the flow of the God-life through the medium of the breath which animates the self.
You may follow this further in understanding that life does not cease to be nor consciousness cease to be when breath ceases, for the individual, though unable to function in the physical octave, continues as an identity in his etheric body without breath.
The life of God that flows on the breath is the essence of divinity that forms the qualities you know as a man. Man, woman and child are a series of qualities. You really are not dealing with a creature of flesh and blood - you are dealing with qualified, energy a consciousness made up of qualities. The office of the Holy Spirit (whose representative I am) is to create in the Garden of Life a series of Godly Qualities making the manifestation as lovely as your flowers, your shrubs and your fruits.
You might liken man unto a fruit tree bearing much or little fruit. The life principle is the substance that makes the fruit or the qualities, and your Bible tells you that if the fruit is not good the life principle has been distorted. The process of evolving a divine man is to change the quality of his fruit by conscious effort... to meditate on the perfection of the life essence as it flows through any ascended Being, to dissociate oneself from the outer personality and allow this perfect essence to have its own way in expressing through you its perfection. Now, because the hour of harvest is here, the Holy Spirit is required to bring each soul back to the heart of God and show the fruit of his living. That is why I have come and that is why I have remained with each of you.
