Pentecost (Whitsuntide)

June 2, 1963

"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared into them cloven tongues like as fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Acts 11:1-4

The Jews celebrated Pentecost as the feast of "the first fruits", as on that occasion the first fruits of the wheat harvest were presented to God. Christians celebrate it as the outpouring of the Holy Ghost. This feast is also called the Maha Chohan's Day, as he is the Representative of the Holy Spirit to the Earth.

Therefore this feast, for Bridge Students, has a three-fold meaning. First, that they should prepare themselves to have "the first spiritual fruits." of the year ready for presentation at the coming Conclave of the Karmic Board next month. Second, that they should prepare themselves for the coming into their consciousness of the Holy Spirit, as did the Apostles. Third, that they should honor the Beloved Maha Chohan and invoke him daily to accelerate the uplifting of their consciousness.

This is what Jesus has said about the Feast of Pentecost: "Believing in my Words, the disciples did make the personal effort to raise their own soul's light. Finally collectively they were ready for the wonderful, mystic union - the 'second birth'. The Holy Spirit entered into their souls, filling them with the sense of power, of achievement, of faith, all of which are the Nature of God.

Then they knew from personal experience how I felt and in that knowing where they able to transcend human laws and perform so-called miracles. So shall be for every man who desires a personal Whitsuntide and who will make conscious effort to prepare for the Corning of that Comforter who is the Master Presence of God awaiting summons to kindle the spark of Immortality in every human heart".

It is recommended that the earnest student read and study everything that "The Bridge to Freedom" Journal has published on this subject. You will find these articles in the following issues:
