The beautiful picturizations of Lord Gautama as the Buddha (now Lord of the World) show him with the Lotus which is open to full flower, and its love enfolds his body in its perfumed caress. 

This Lotus represents the thousand God Qualities and Virtues which he drew forth from Life and which he chose to dedicate his personal Life to expanding. The Great Lord Gautama learned early that we find within Life that which we seek, and he loved Life enough to live selflessly through the centuries preceding his embodiment as the mighty Prince of India. 

Loving Life as deeply and selflessly and impersonally as he did, he pierced through into the glorious Virtues latent within Life, and each of these Virtues passed from his body to enrich the confused consciousnesses of the people, the animal and plant life of our System. So, too, may each student and all sincere and earnest hearts expand their God life for the greatest good of all. 

The Cosmic Lotus begins to expand through the physical heart the instant the outer self desires the Presence of God. Whatever pressure of world experience turns the soul toward the God-self matters not, except insofar as it provides a marvelous opportunity for the Holy Christ Self to begin the development of the Cosmic Lotus through the human form. Once those fresh new shoots of development begin to around the heart center of the lifestream, the Masters of Wisdom are privileged to give more than ordinary help. 

The flowing stream of Life energy that sustains the body life does not have enough pressure within itself to do more than perform the activities connected with daily living, but when the Holy Christ Self sees the sincerity of the heart in the search for God, for Christ, for Truth - more Light begins to flow into the Chalice of the Heart where the quiescent God Virtues have lived sometimes for centuries without piercing through the human veil or becoming apparent to any but the Masters' Love. 

When this God Light enters the Chalice of the Heart, it is a pressure which begins to press out of your own life, just as you press the juice from a fruit, the God Virtues, and these Virtues begin like the small yellow petals you have seen in the new sunflower and they become like a pointed arc at their exterior surface so that where they press through the lifestream they are just a tiny triangle that only the discerning and loving can see. 

There is no recession once this has begun to take place, and since Lord Gautama gained his Ascension, his particular service to Life has been expanding the Lotus wherever the Holy Christ Self has given the Cosmic Fiat that such an unfoldment was about to take place. Therefore, all aspirants who are beginning to expand that thousand petal Flame are in the Garden of Lord Gautama's Love, and cultivating selfless desire to increase the Virtues by instilling in other lives, happiness, or peace or laughter, will find greater expansion of their God Flame.
